Masseria Palane
Lecce, Puglia
From Working Farm to Boutique Hideaway
Masseria Palane was once a traditional farmhouse in southern Apulia, used for everyday rural life. When the Tortora family moved here from northern Italy, they decided to restore it, keeping its thick stone walls and vaulted ceilings, but reimagining the space as a peaceful, design-forward retreat. Every detail respects the building’s history, even as it embraces modern simplicity. The name itself nods to the nearby coastal watchtower, Torre Palane, a quiet tribute to the area’s agricultural and maritime roots.
What Makes It Special: A Place with Style and Stillness
This is not your average boutique stay. What sets Masseria Palane apart is its quiet beauty. The architecture is minimal but warm, with each of the six rooms, and the private Dependance, designed to feel personal, not polished. Soft tones, raw textures, hand-picked furniture, nothing flashy, but everything thoughtful.
There’s a certain rhythm here. Mornings start with fresh ricotta, homemade cakes, and warm bread from a local oven. In the afternoon, you might find a plate of focaccia and tomatoes by the pool, paired with a glass of local wine. The pool itself stretches through the garden, surrounded by dry-stone walls and the scent of rosemary.
Inside, a small wellness area carved into the stone offers yoga, massages, and space to simply pause. The idea is simple: slow down, breathe, and let the place do the work.
